      <image:title>Projects - The Moreland Mural Project</image:title>
<image:caption>The Moreland Mural Project is an outcome of revitalization activities in Little Five Points to reclaim its identity as an eclectic, safe, arts-centric neighborhood. The project’s manifold goals are to add vibrancy to the neighborhood, increase public access to the arts, connect artists with community, pay artists fairly, and amplify the seldom heard voice of female artists in Atlanta’s public realm. The 22 selected multidisciplinary artists all have a strong connection to Atlanta. Each has a unique story, artistic style, and commitment to social engagement. Nearly half of the artists are women of color. The mural design will be a reflection of the Little Five Points neighborhood: diverse, original voices coming together in a single space. This project is a cross-sector collaboration, involving individual members of the community, the neighborhood organizations of Little Five Points, Inman Park, Candler Park, Edgewood and Reynoldstown, the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), the City of Atlanta Office of Cultural Affairs, Fulton County Board of Commissioners, corporate sponsors and local businesses. We are fiscally sponsored by C4 Atlanta, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit service organization, which means that any contribution to this project is tax-deductible. <image:title>Projects - "Uplifting" | Private Commission for TKE Headquarters, Atlanta, GA USA</image:title>
<image:caption>My work honors the human experience through abstracted portraiture, patterns and symbolism – the hieroglyphics of one’s journey. The symbol I use consistently is an abstracted magpie, a bird that is cloaked with superstition and has a nefarious reputation. However it is also common to salute the first magpie one sees to show respect and seek good fortune. This inspires my work – the magpie as an omen of change. Accordingly, the presence of the magpie is a calling to enter a crucible of the spirit. It asks you to rethink social norms, to shift perspectives, to be open to personal transformation. With respect to TKE, the journey embodies a mathematical architecture from which to create movement: the inspiration for my pattern making. I used various sizes of hexagons as symbols of community but also to honor the modular shapes, angled lines and patterns created within them. This represents our human connectivity and the importance of collaboration in the creation of ideas, as all whole things are the sum of many parts.</image:caption>

      <image:title>why think greatly?</image:title>
<image:caption>Happiness is doing what you love. Photo by Meredith Howard "To think greatly is to have the gumption and resourcefulness to align actions with aspirations. This is how I operated when I lived and worked abroad in the Marshall Islands and Sicily. Yet when I moved to Atlanta, I let the vastness of the city swallow me up. I didn't know anyone. The confidence and bravery I had quickly deflated. As I engaged with the Atlanta community through my creative offerings, my sense of self returned. I realized that I was spending a lot of time on things I cared little about, and not enough time on the the things that would lead me towards my greater goals. And so with the encouragement and support of my husband and close friends, I got the courage to create my own destiny - to think greatly." –Lauren Pallotta Stumberg</image:caption>
